Who I am...

I was born and grew up in Asakusa, one of the popular traditional downtown area in Tokyo. I have long enjoyed seasonal local events, including summer festivals carrying, mikoshi, the portable shrines. So I love old towns and buildings I have been familiar with. After enjoying the latest stylish buildings, why not visit old parts of Tokyo? I’m sure you will encounter old but lovely buildings, which is another charm of Tokyo.

My favorite architects...

The Gallery of Horyuji Treasures in Tokyo National Museum in Ueno.
That might be slightly difficult to find, because it is behind another building"Hyoukeikan". It is designed by Taniguchi Yoshio. Stylish appearance is awesome, but my recommendation is the 1st floor. A lot of brilliant golden Buddhist statues are displayed in a dark hall. That is just mysterious Buddha world. If you visit TNM, don’t miss it!!

My favorite quote...

"Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore, Dream, Discover." Mark Twain

I love windsurfing…!

I enjoy windsurfing almost once a week in Tokyo bay. The best part of windsurfing is to make my heart pure. While I’m sailing on the sea, I feel only nature, such as winds, waves and sky, my favorite moment. However, I’m afraid I’ve never “Sailed away from the safe harbor”. Because it’s scaaaa-ry!

I also love Buddhist statues…

When I became a tour guide, I started to learn more about Buddhist statues. The more I know about Buddhist statues, the more they became interesting and I’m a Buddhist-statue lover now. I’ve been to not only Nara and Kyoto but also Thailand and China to appreciate Buddhist statues. The building of temples is interesting, but inside of temples is worth visiting, where Buddhist statues create a solemn atmosphere.
